Thank you so much for your interest in becoming a guest contributor to R.I.S.E. Magazine! We welcome articles from educators worldwide on all of the education topics on our website.

Please note that this is a free magazine and therefore there are no fees or royalties paid. Likewise, there is no sponsorship or advertising. We will, however, work to champion and promote your contribution, as we truly appreciate the time you dedicate to writing for us.

How it works

  1. First, we gather your author details in our guest contributor form below.
  2. If it’s a good fit for our readers, our editor will get back to you to take your article forward!

Writing guidelines

  • The word count limit for articles is 1,000 words (adjusted only at the editor’s discretion).
  • It can help to start with an introduction, end with a summary, and break the rest of your article down into sections.
  • Check out our previous articles for useful examples.
  • Any quotes or ideas from other sources must be referenced.
  • Use review tools to check spelling, grammar and punctuation as you go.
  • Any images you supply must be copyright-free. If you are looking for copyright-free images, take a look at sites like unsplash.com or pixabay.com.
  • You must have explicit consent to include any original images/videos of students.
  • Any material deemed by our editor as not being in the best interest of R.I.S.E. or its readers (e.g., largely AI-generated or overly commercial content) will be edited and communicated to the writer.

R.I.S.E. short reads

As you know, educators are busy, so sometimes although they want to keep updated on educational news and ideas they just haven’t got the time for a full length article. Short reads is an opportunity to share snippet bits of content with readers that they can digest quickly on the go. These are subject to the same guidelines as above but with a maximum word count of 400 words (adjusted only at the editor’s discretion).

Idea for short reads:

  • A classroom anecdote – an interesting or funny story from the classroom, it could also be an amusing anonymous quote from a pupil
  • Advice – some words of wisdom to support school staff
  • Activity idea – An idea for an activity to try out in the classroom

Videos

We love different kinds of media so you could also create video content!

Such as a taking a video of yourself on your phone, sharing a piece of advice with readers or the funniest thing a pupil has said to you this week, you could also explain an activity idea or give some thought leadership insights.

Video guidelines will be sent via email.

Notes for companies and self-employed contributors

We know that educational companies and self-employed persons in the education sector such as consultants and coaches have valuable insights to bring to our readers from their experiences in the sector – and we’d love to hear from you!

We want R.I.S.E. readers get the maximum benefit from reading –  and for that reason, it is a free magazine, with no sponsorship or advertising.

With that in mind, these are the considerations for the companies/self-employed persons who write for us:

  • Company names and/or other promotional material will not be published within articles.
  • Company or business social links and website addresses are only accepted in the author’s bio.

R.I.S.E. and AI-generated contributions

R.I.S.E. is a forum for educators to share stories, advice and experiences with peers. Real human stories that others can relate to, told in your authentic voices.

We kindly request that you consider this if you are tempted to send us a largely AI-generated article. Your original words will make for a better and more genuine reading experience for readers – and resonate much more.

Also, think about what you’d prefer to see as a reader: AI-generated articles or uniquely expressed insights from colleagues across the world?
