The creative process is just as important as the end product, whichever creative endeavour you choose.
Here at R.I.S.E., we’re a creative bunch and we’ll take any excuse to get hands-on with music, art, drama, craft, pottery, calligraphy, mosaic making – you name it, we’ll give it a go!
Create Week starts today, 1st July, and it celebrates creativity and expression across the board, providing you with a chance to learn new skills, get inspired and find a new creative outlet or even refine the one that you have a passion for.
It’s a fabulous opportunity to throw open the doors to the world of creativity for your students too, putting today’s technology-first responses aside for a while and enjoying the manual process of creating. And before you say, ‘But you can be creative with EdTech!’, we don’t dispute that, but that’s not what Create Week is about!
Why creativity is good
Exercising our creative skills in the moment is a salve for wellbeing. It’s during the actual process of ‘making’ where the magic begins to happen, and it’s the journey that counts – not just the result. Getting absorbed into your project is great for concentration and being ‘in the zone’ makes us feel motivated and productive. It feels like a shift has happened. This engagement enhances our learning, performance and motivates us, so that we can’t wait to do it all again next time!
About Create Week
Create Week was founded by the Create charity. It uses creative arts to enhance wellbeing and reduce isolation by giving people a chance for self-expression through art forms such as dance, painting, music, drama, craft and more. As it says itself, ‘Create Week is all about mass participation in creativity’!
