New decree from the Hungarian government restricts telecommunication devices (particularly mobile phones) in schools.
From the current school year onwards, mobile phones and devices for recording images/sound and smart devices for accessing the internet will be restricted in Hungarian schools. These devices cannot be used by students in primary schools, secondary schools or vocational secondary schools.
This rule applies unless teachers specifically give permission for a devices to be used. The regulation will also place restrictions on teachers – during classes and other educational activities where teachers supervise students. Teachers are only allowed to use info-communication devices (including mobile phones) for educational purposes. 1
The move is intended to help safeguard students and minimise digital distractions, helping everyone focus on teaching and learning.
