In just four years, enrolments by Indian students into New Zealand’s higher education institutions has increased by an astonishing 48.9 per cent. And alongside this, in 2025, Australia will host over 101,500 students, again, mainly from India.
Governments are investing in HE
Recognising the contribution that international students can make to the local economy, over the last few years, both countries have been making it easier for foreign students to study there.
New Zealand has simplified processes around visas and work rights – as well as introducing scholarships for exceptional students. Australia’s high-quality universities remain attractive to international students and these, coupled with the excellent employment opportunities available upon qualification, make it an appealing choice.
The obvious commitment from their governments to investing in their higher education infrastructure mean that both countries now sit in the top league of destinations for higher education, sitting alongside the USA, Canada and UK.
