I’m absolutely delighted that it’s time for another Pets’ Corner post. It’s by far my favourite thing to edit for R.I.S.E. 🤭 Join me in appreciating these amazing animals that bring so much joy to their owners’ lives – and they may just bring a little joy to yours too.

 

Toulouse

“My name is Toulouse. I am just a baby at one year old – but I am anything but small! I came into my mum’s life as a foster almost a year ago but, well, I made such an impression on her that she couldn’t let me go and adopted me herself! (My plan worked. 😉)

“When I’m not outside exploring the big wide world and bringing home presents for my mum, I like to cuddle up with a teddy version of me. I especially like it when my human tucks me in.

“You’ll often find me sleeping in funny positions, eating all my sisters’ food and annoying my siblings like every little brother should! (I especially like to bite the fluffy one’s tail!)”

Toulouse

Loki and Salem

Loki is, as his moniker suggests, the god (or cat) of mischief. Lately, he has learnt that all coat hangers need destroying and that all dog toys actually belong to him. Just like his brother Salem, he always appears for treats, chicken and his weekly Sunday roast!

Salem is a master of playing hide and seek – he just needs to close his eyes and he’s disappeared! 🐈‍⬛ He always reappears for chicken, treats and to the catch the TV with his humans.

Salem

Luna

This is Luna. She was only meant to stay with us for a couple of weeks as a foster dog, but she quickly decided that we would do just fine as her family. She loves cuddles, cats and my son’s toys, and is happiest in a calm, quiet environment.

She is very sweet and gentle, although definitely not a fan of too much noise.

Delilah and Obi

Delilah and Obi have been showing how unimpressed they are with me. Delilah is showing me what she thinks of me spending so much time working on my PhD and not giving in her enough attention! And Obi is showing me what he thinks of my large book pile!

Martha is the most loving doggo who gives the best cuddles, but can also bowl you over with her zoomies.  She’s nearly 10 years old, loves chicken and hates salad. 🤣

Nova and Pumpkin

Nova is a very mischievous little girl from Peterborough Cat Rescue that helps calm our other very mischievous daughter.

Pumpkin is a half- Maine Coon rescue girl who is a big ball of fluff. She is aggressively affectionate and will nudge you if you aren’t giving enough fuss. And she has the loudest purr!

Pumpkin

Latte

Latte is now 18. He has slowed down lately (well, he is a senior, after all), but he has always been super chilled. He likes wandering in the garden, hanging out by the roaring wood burner when it’s cold, and his favourite food is freshly cooked bolognese.

Latte

Ronald and Pumpkin

Ronald was from Peterborough Cat Rescue and fostered by a friend. He is absolutely bonkers and literally came in like a wrecking ball! He came into our lives to be a support buddy for Pumpkin, when Pumpkin’s older brother sadly passed away.

Pumpkin is also from the same rescue and fosterer! Pumpkin is a bit of a special case – a very timid feral cat with no malice in him whatsoever. He is very nervous, shy and terrified of life. But he fits perfectly together with Ronald – they are tag team menace!

Pumpkin

Ruby

Ruby (AKA Rubester, Rubydoo and crazy gal) is a lovely little vizsla with more energy than the energiser bunny. She will follow you everywhere (you can’t even go to the toilet in peace) and has no understanding of/care about personal space. She will stand on you for attention, cuddles and kisses.

This little nutcase is 4 in July, but has already used at least 2 of his 9 lives when he poisoned himself rooting around in next door’s garden while they were getting rid of dangerous chemicals from their shed!

He is the life and soul of the family and brings endless joy and mayhem (in equal parts)! He looks like butter wouldn’t melt, but it simply sizzles on his tongue… 🙄

Princess Leia and Chewy

This is our 10 month-old cat Leia, who really is Princess Leia! She lives a life of luxury and is very jealous when her sister gets snuggles so she’ll jump in between!

This is Chewy, who is the fluffy sister of Leia. She knows she’s so fluffy and cute. Constant cuddles for her!

Ness

Ness has been a wonderful addition to our home. Even though she’s only been with us for four weeks, she’s already become very “Ness”essary to our daily lives. She loves napping in the most inconvenient places, surprising us with cuddles (especially during video calls), and has a real talent for catching (and eating) any fly brave enough to cross her path! She may not look it, but she’s an avid hunter, so we’ve fitted her with a bird‑safe collar to help protect the neighbourhood wildlife.
