Learn how Poland is responding to the essential need for climate education.
The Ministry of Education in Poland has appointed a team of 36 climate education specialists to work together to create a proposal for climate education in schools. The team will support the Ministry of Education to develop a curriculum where climate and environmental learning is integrated cross-curriculum at every stage of education. The curriculum will also be ’embedded in the local context in order to give students a real sense of empowerment. ‘ 1
As well as creating a new core curriculum, the experts will also advise on:
- school infrastructure
- cooperation with organisations
- teacher training
- collaboration with parents. 1
Deputy Minster, Joanna Mucha, announced the establishment of the team. She shared:
“Climate education is extremely necessary for all of us. We need to prepare students for life in a changing world and on the job market, where so-called green skills may prove crucial We want this team to support the Ministry of National Education in creating the core curriculum. We are not planning a new subject – we want climate and environmental education to be present at every stage of education and to appear in various subjects.” 2
