The Education Endowment Foundation’s newest report reveals how educators engage with educational research evidence.
Released on 20th January, the Engaging with Evidence report sets out the findings from questions the EEF asked of teachers and leaders via the Teacher Tapp app to investigate attitudes to and use of research evidence.
Research use trends
To build up a picture of trends, most of the questions were repeats of those asked a year ago, although some new questions were also included. With over 9,000 respondents to five of the six questions, educators can gain an understanding of how their colleagues engage with research evidence.
Questions answered include:
- To what extent do school leaders engage with research evidence as part of their practice, and how do they do this?
- How does academic research influence school leader and teacher practice, compared to other sources of guidance and support?
- Whose advice do you regularly apply to your teaching practice?
With a clear and easy-to-digest presentation of the data, this report provides great insight for teachers everywhere.
