A collection of resources for LGBTQIA+ inclusion and support.
June is Pride Month – a month dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and raising awareness of the challenges the community faces and how we can help. We wanted to celebrate this month by sharing some excellent educational resources that schools can use and share with students and parents to support understanding and inclusion and build community.
Free educational resources
- The Global Equality Collective has a wealth of free resources, including book recommendations and its gender inclusion playbook.
- Queer Education Consultancy offers schools a free resource pack to download, including information on topics such as inclusive leadership and curriculums.
- The Proud Trust has loads of free resources for young people and adults, such as its LGBTQIA+ role models and trans inclusion toolkit.
- Bold Voices offers many free resources, including lesson plans and posters.
- More than flags and rainbows has an excellent diverse book list that you can filter by characteristic groups and topics.
- Includability has a great video library which you can filter by characteristic groups and topics.
- Stonewall has a range of free toolkits, including on tackling bullying and creating an LGBTQIA+ inclusive primary curriculum.
- NetSupport has a video where educators share why LGBTQIA+ inclusion and days like IDAHBOIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia, and Transphobia) matter.
These are just a few of many free educational resources that schools can use to get started with building LGBTQIA+ inclusive classrooms. There are many more to find from some of the organisations mentioned and beyond.
